Delivery Information
Our dispatch team considers multiple freight options to keep your costs down. We may contact you to discuss these when you place your order, or as we are readying it to be sent.
Courier - Our smaller consignments are carried by Aramex; generally overnight to the South Island and a two-day service to the North Island. Where possible, we prefer to avoid sending to rural addresses, as this adds a 3rd party rural postal contractor and an additional day or two to your delivery, which cannot be tracked. Many of our rural customers arrange to collect their order from an urban address, the courier depot, or their nearest rural supply store.
Palletised shipping - Larger orders are securely packed onto a pallet and shipped by Mainfreight. This is our preferred option for orders of more than a few boxes or bags.
Chilled Freight - Bare root radiata and Douglas fir are sent via chilled freight for best success in forestry conditions.
This varies greatly by grade and species.
Container stock typically fits 35 pots (0.5L) per large box, or 80-100 plugs per medium box ('banana box').
One bag (approx. 50cm across) may fit several hundred bare root seedlings at 20-40cm or 40-60cm grades, for slimmer deciduous species such as birches, alders, or planes. Bulkier species such as walnuts, ash, or oaks fit fewer. Evergreens and conifers also fit fewer, due to their foliage. At the other extreme, bare root trees in the larger 0.9-1.2m and 1.2-1.5m grades may only fit 10-50 per bag.
Yes, you can arrange to collect with a minimum of 3 days notice.
Most orders collected by the general public do not need a trailer. Leave a comment in your web order or send us an email referencing your order number, and we can let you know.
