Broadly conical, evergreen. Short densely arranged blunt grey-green to grey-blue needles. 15cm upright cylindrical cones. Slow growing but tolerates very dry and exposed conditions.

Valuable aromatic timber, heartwood with resin. 2 years old. Single row shelterbelt spacing 1.5-2m, Multiple row shelter 3 x 3m with pruning of inside trees for quality timber.

S.W. Oregon and N.W. California. Narrowly conical, evergreen. Good shelter tree for colder moist districts. Keep grazing stock away from the root area as soil compaction causes ill thrift and canker in the trees. Timber is now sought after.
